Try taking a hot washcloth and placing it over your (closed) eyes for five minutes. That is what I do when my eyes are gritty and dry. I wear contacts so I need to be able to see. For eyedrops I use Bausch & Lomb Sensitive Eyes Rewetting Drops which I like because you aren't limited to how many times a day you can use them like with some other eye drops.
