No one was more 'tech challenged' than me when I first started with this. I had never wanted anything to do with such a thing as one of those 'new fangled e-book readers'. However, it didn't take long to change my own mind.....I just wanted it badly enough to do my own looking.........no one is too dumb to do that, and I never called them inbeciles. I"m just saying......if Ophra "kindled" their interest, fine. After that, its up to them to see if its something they really want.

Well, they're apparently doing some research on their own because they asked their friend on a forum about the Sony.
"Imbecile" was a stand in for all the general insults I read back there from you and others. I believe you just said they didn't have a clue. Someone back there went so far as to call them "brain dead" and you seemed to find it quite funny. I hope they don't come here and see this thread in the course of any further research.
I'm glad you pushed yourself to do your own research. I would hope that would make you a little more sympathetic. Yes, I want them to stretch themselves and be more comfortable with technology, but I don't think that should be the entrance criteria for owning a Kindle. It's for reading books. You can love books and not be comfortable researching a gadget. You can see how convenient it is to have hundreds or thousands of books with you at all times without having any comfort level with the technology that makes it possible. That concept was one of the major driving forces behind the Kindle design and Whispernet. I think we would do better to encourage people to stretch a bit than just throw up a hurdle in front of them. Calling them clueless and brain dead isn't exactly welcoming them into the ebook community where they could potentially learn a lot. How would you have felt if you came here when you were first looking around and read that?
