@NiLuJe: Good idea, but nope, it still doesn't want to play ball. Nothing special about the 'stuck' book (Calibre: side-loaded - Covers: 400x600). If I remove the stuck book it just replaces it with another random book cover from 'documents'. I've been using this hack since you released it for the paperwhite and this is the first time it's not run smoothly.
In the meantime, I've tried wiping all the installed books . Loaded 10 others. Time read 19:37 - Restart [for good measure] - time now reads 17:47 - adjusted clock to current time - into sleep mode - shows last book cover (A) - open new book (B) - wait.. - Sleep mode - New and correct book cover (B) - change book to (J) - wait... - hasn't changed, still book cover (B) - Repeat a number of times on other books and still display cover (B) - Delete book (B) - Open new book (C) - wait... - Sleep mode - displays a completely new random book cover (D)!!
You can only have so much fun in one evening, I think I'll have another crack at it tomorrow.
