So if it is worth the effort of learning linux skills to do this yourself, go for it. Reread my posts above for hints where to find such information to tell you what linux skills are most needed to accomplish your goal.

Or... just get a cheap USB wifi stick for your computer that lacks wifi. Plug and play, and no greasy script kiddie stuff needed... Why do things the hard way just to save a few dollars?
