I am actually a big fan of the command line myself, I just think many people will become too afraid to try it at all if they're asked to go to the command line. Despite the fact that it is easier for them and less hassle, it lies outside their comfort zone.
Not saying everyone is like that, but my mother would freak out if I told her instructions that included the command line. Of course, it wouldn't come to that, as I'd end up doing it myself regardless.
