Once upon a time, to be a reporter or columnist you had to work for a newspaper or newsmagazine. Then came radio. TV. Websites. Blogs. Podcasts. Youtube channels.
Patrons are now optional. The professions remain.

Newsmagazines are mostly gone.
Newspapers aren't far behind.
Times change, professions evolve or die.
Most practicioners are smart enough to evolve.
