Go to
Preferences - Searching and uncheck the
Highlight search results line and check the
Show a quick toggle button (see attached).
The first will cause you to just see the searched items. The second will put a new button three icons to the right of the search bar that will allow you to toggle between Highlight (what you see now) and just show search results. The button is just in case some future update or plugin accidentally switches this setting.
