As for the credit card - my card is getting charged for each transaction and I get notified from the bank about the charge. So I guess that all who are worried that they'll be later charged for full amounts - that is not the likely scenario. As Katsunami said, worst case you might get your payments reimbursed and boosk taken out of library.
But I don't see that happening - 95comic was similar situation and I bought many books that time as well. Kobo's receipts were late, but the amount I paid remained the same - 5% of the retail price
Bank cannot charge me for what I have not authorised as payment.
As for the card companies accepting strange addresses - I have the same experience wherever I shop online - they care about the data printed out on your card and anything else - passwords, OTP - that only you might know. Other stuff seems not to matter. And this includes shopping on Amazon too.
