The 90% off first book is an onscreen device setup offer and is not the same as the discounts in the Kobo discount thread. See photo of brochure in post below.

The discounts in the Kobo discount thread is "useless" because the major publishers (Simon & Schuster, Random House, Penguin, Harper Collins, etc) all ends in a ".99" price which don't qualify for those discount codes.
