I've read the Dresden Files and really liked them a lot. Haven't read the Codex Alera series, but it is on my to-read list. I really like Butcher's writing style, and that he writes characters I care about - still reeling over the fate of some of the his characters, in fact.

What drew me to both Dresden Files and The Sword of Truth were their TV incarnations. I liked the Dresden Files and Legend of the Seeker, but I loved Butchers books even more than the series, though it is a little tough watching Arrow now whenever "Dresden" appears.
