Linux hidden folders are no more hidden than Windows hidden folders. Use CTRL+H to view hidden folders like ".config". Or click Menu ==> View ==> Show Hidden Files in nautilus, and similarly for other file browsers I assume. (Which is actually easier than finding the hidden settings in Windows, which recently became hidden somewhere under system settings in the Control Panel, I believe?)

Folder Options have always been available from Control Panel, and still there in Win 8 and looks just the name.
Up to Win 7 Folder Options are also available at Windows Explorer\Tools.
Post Win 7 Folder Options are also available File Explorer\View.
Nasty MS moved it from Tools to View. They also moved Organise to View. Now all the controls that specify what you see in File Explorer are in one place - what a stupid idea. It was much better when they were scattered all over the place like a dogs breakfast - boo hiss
