I have a tendency to be cynical so I don't often find funny books hilarious all the time. It's a precious gem to find them, but they do exist. At least for me too. I just bought "Let's Pretend This Never Happened" a month ago and that was seriously a laugh out loud book. The best thing about it is the first time you at least try to criticize it, the author already calls you out for it. The self-deprecating humor works.

The only way stand up comedies/movies work is because the details that you notice add to the whole attempt to tickle your funny bone. In books, you only have the description and the rest is up to your imagination.
