I think, that was what was expected. Burn a disc, then use the files.
Some programs like WinRAR, Nero provide utilities to navigate within a ISO (it being a form of archive).

7zip and Peazip will let you browse & unpack ISO archives, unlike WinRAR they're free (not as good tho' - IMO of course), I think both do Linux and Portable, but maybe not OS/X. Peazip also does ReactOS...
If you press 'v', select ISO, and hit enter then whatever your OS has registered for dealing with ISO's should spring into life
