There's no such thing as a durable reader. You have to be very careful with all of them. No dropping, no bending, no torqueing or you'll break the substrate of the screen and render the device useless.

There are some really good protector cases out there but none of them really protect the screen from any of the above as far as I know.

If you're hard on your electronics then I'd pass on an eink reader personally. Sorry.
