Heck, I'd be happy to contribute to a pool to just buy it for you somehow. Afterall, we're talking about a childhood treasure here.
Ok, that's 9:30 Central time (Chicago-ish). How one does it, is to arrange for only ONE of us to *promise* to be online at that time. You synch your computer and watch clock .... At precisely 1 minute before the auction ends (none of this "about 9:30" stuff) you enter your TRULY MAX price .... start the "ok"ing process. At 15 seconds to the end (gotta allow for net delay) you hit the final YES-BID THAT AMOUNT button.

Meanwhile, you have left the auction alone, and stop increasing the price on it! When you enter your TRULY MAX price at the last second, you are betting against how much the other guy entered. Did he only enter 1 dollar (or relevant currency) more than the prev bid? Then you might win it for just a skosh over that. If he was smart, and entered his real max, then you get to see who REALLY wanted it more. I.E. Whose max was higher.

If you send the auction number, I can be that "one person", if you like. Gotta also send the truly highest you want to bid (probably, in my currency).

[ Heck, I've even done this kind of bidding from my iPhone, while walking the dogs.....]
