I'll be your friendly latin-american book pirate (:
I've just bought a Kindle Touch. Loved it since day 1 (despite ghosting and slowness) and I've been reading like mad. Kindle's have been one of the best types of readers imho.
I'm naturally spanish-spoken. It seems that ebooks in spanish are 'hella scarce (and without a doubt. Mostly in Latin America, reading is seen as awkward and nerd-like. People get off on twerking, reggaeton and TV mostly. Not saying it's bad, just saying it's the reason for low market on ebooks).
So books in spanish are rare and I have a Kindle. I still read in english, but I really do want to offer books in digital text. I thus chose to become a book pirate.
I get books from colleges, libraries, personal purchases. I bought Abby Finereader 11 (toughest 160$ I've spent) and started doing OCR. It's been going good and I'm learning from each book that I *puts on shades* bookleg. So far I've done a few books; not worthy of keeping since the formatting has been so choppy that the book doesn't fit well on any type of e-reader. So I start again a couple of times until shit gets done good.
I by no means wish to infringe on copyrights or damage authors' properties. It's just that books are expensive and the books I'm looking for are far away from my country of residence. With taxes, shipping, more taxes and all sorts of beaurocratic horses*** I can't afford to get physical books.
I also believe that I'm not a book pirate per se. The difference between me and a pirate is that I just get the ebook and keep it to myself (and avoid legal issues of any sort) while pirates spread their stuff around the internetz.
I might find somewhere to share my OCRs anonymously, and even if I do I would consider it. But for the time being, I chose to join the forums and learn the tools of the trade on how to OCR, format, edit, clean and re-clean ebooks like a Boss.
Any suggestions, comments, warnings, requests, advising of any nature is greatly appreciated

I'm at your service with whatever it is that I can help you with.
Regards,
