New Glo -- a few questions

I have a brand new Glo! I'm so excited .... except ...

One thing I noticed right off the bat ...

It doesn't seem to want to eject ... even if everything is closed (the Kobo desktop, Calibre, Windows Explorer .... web browser), I get a message saying that the device is in use.

If I open Windows Explorer and right click and select Eject, I still get the message ... BUT I can also choose to "Continue" and it will shut down whatever is using it ... with a warning that I may loose data.

That's the only way I get a "safe to remove" notice.

What gives?

I'm using Win7x64.
Calibre is 1.23
Kobo software is 3.1.1 (and a bunch of numbers, 12/11/13)

(and I had to tell Calibre to use the driver anyway, even though it's not supported ... is that because if a new version of Calibre or a new version of the Kobo FW?)
