I found ME1 rather boring and tedious. That moon car (Mako?) had incredibly bad controls.
The best RPG ever was undoubtedly
Planescape: Torment. Not necessarily the gameplay, but the writing and plot were superb.
In the strategy genre, I'd probably list Civilization 1 (I played the Atari ST version) or Master of Magic, though in terms of depth some newer games (like Dominions 3 and 4, or even Crusader Kings) are more impressive.
