This is exactly the reason why I often build quite powerful computers for half the price some of my friends pay: because I'm always half a year late, and I always buy upper midrange / low toprange stuff instead of the stuff at the extreme top.
Yes, I'll be six months late.
Yes, my computer will be about 20-25% less powerful.
But, I'll save about 50, sometimes 60% of the money.
Three years later, the 20%-25% difference in power often doesn't matter. If my computer can't run the software or game, theirs can't run it either. But hey; I saved 50%+ of the money, so I just stick a new graphics card in there and the latest cpu that still fits the mainboard, and I can go for another three years. Surprise: after such an upgrade, my system often becomes faster than that of my friends, while I *STILL* didn't spend the amount of money they did.
The only problem: I have no bragging rights.
