This was discussed recently in https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=232981.

I think it is a bug in the firmware, but, it doesn't always happen. With the above thread, I tried several epubs on the SD card on a Touch running FW3.0.1. The covers were displayed correctly during sleep. I hadn't tried a CBZ for a while. With that, the cover wasn't displayed.

I tried my Glo as well. This is running later firmware and doesn't have the problem. Whether that is firmware or device, I don't know. I have another Touch that has the same firmware, but I don't have it with me. I'll try it tonight.

If you are using calibre, there is a way to beat this problem. For books on the SD card, the device doesn't store the covers. It generates them as needed. But, if the cover images are on the card in the right place, they will be used. Calibre can generate the covers when the books are sent to the device. You need to select the appropriate options in the KoboTouch driver configuration. Or, if you use my Kobo Utilities plugin, you can send the covers to the device after the books are on it.
