I know Kobo Supports ePub and Mobi/PRC (although obviously not AZW). I've not tried LIT, LRF, and RB though.
Kobo also claim HTML support but whether that's inside a zip file to keep documents and images together or only single page documents I don't know.
The surround isn't as matte as it could be (it's scatters light less than plain cardboard for example) but it is more matte than the screen so I've not had a problem with it being distracting.
