Ok, on the Mac, it appears the .annot files are stored here: /Users/*Username*/Documents/Digital Editions/annotations

However, when I opened a .annot file using TextEdit this is what showed up:

<annotationSet xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/digitaleditions/annotations">
<publication>
<dc:identifier>5d49e528-abae-4fb3-983e-3c04d83b7cb5</dc:identifier>
<dc:title>Liberty Defined: 50 Essential Issues That Affect Our Freedom</dc:title>
<dc:creator>Ron Paul</dc:creator>
<dcublisher>Hachette Digital, Inc.</dcublisher>
</publication>
</annotationSet>

This is all it says. It doesn't mention any of the highlights I made...?
