As an exCapetonian I found that 'Madiba' and 'When a Crocodile Eats the Sun' by Peter Godwin from Zimbabwe impossible to put down.
The latter is available from Mobipocket, and the former I think is available from Fictionwise as ebooks.

Imagine trying to cook with a book in one hand and a ladle in the other!
