Personally, I think that would be great! I think it would add a level of easy customizability to the iLiad. I can envision that doing an iDS Connect would update whatever packages were currently installed. This way, users don't HAVE to know anything about the ipkg system, and they would still get updates. But if they wanted more features, there would be an easy straightforward way for them to find and install them.
I would say, go for it! The mockups look pretty good to me!
One thing to bear in mind, I think that we'll be exploring some major revisions to the ContentLister soon, to allow (for example) showing more than 6 items per page. I don't know how you intend to implement ipkg's GUI, but can it be written to inherit whatever changes get made to the ContentLister?
