do you need echolink? would a ssh tunnel work well instead? I've tunneled tons of encrypted traffic that way to my home pc, tons of examples on the net. Good luck!

Fixed the problem. The thread linked to explained that the Kindle's CVM didn't work with normal Java apps, and had a download link for a normal JRE. Worked like a charm in that JRE. Thanks a ton!
