Another suggestion from other forums with Dresden files threads (this one from Goodreads actually):

"London Falling" by Paul Cornell. Have just read (and enjoyed) that one.

The unusual thing (in the fantasy genre) was that that the protagonists (London policemen) get confronted with an evil spirit and need to come up with conventional ways to battle it, not having any expierence or exposure to magic. This is supposedly the first book in a yet-to-be-written longer series.
