Eeek. I hope I've not posted a forbidden something...
Hello everyone
If I've just done something wrong - I'M SORRY. I've just joined and posted something about a free Kindle book. Eeek.
A bit about me... I run the Saltaire Village website in Yorkshire, England. It has a forum and it ticks me off when I wake up in a morning and there's tons of ads for Nikes and Pandora bracelets. I spend too much time sweeping these adds away. Honestly, you would think Nike would have other marketing tools at hand, than using a website run by an unpaid volunteer (that's me, by the way).
A bit about Saltaire Village - fab place, and a World Heritage Site. It was built by Sir Titus Salt, a Victorian philanthropist. A gigantic mill known as Salts Mill opened first, in 1853. Three thousand workers turned out 18 miles of cloth a day, on 1200 looms. Some of that cloth found its way over to America - along the railway lines and canals - all the distribution achieved without the help of a single telephone or even a typewriter.
Saltaire is quirky and beautiful. It's Italianate in style and its history is fascinating. I'm a big fan of Sir Titus - and I know his great grandson, Denys Salt, who is in his 90s and the most charming man I have ever met.

I created the website on a bit of a whim in 2006, and all these years later it's become a bit of a BEAST. Still - it's my own fault - and it gives me something to do when it's raining, which is most days at the moment.
Anyway - hello - and I'm sorry if I've done something unspeakable already on your forum.
