+1 for audiobooks.
Start out with a favorite book that you tend to re-read so you get used to listening and driving. Since you already know the story it won't be a distraction because you won't have to concentrate on it as much as you would with a new story, and you'll attune yourself to listening while driving.
Use an MP3 audiobook CD, or if you have a line-in jack on your car radio plug in an MP3 player. If you've got a device like the Nook HD or another Android or Apple device, you can put the Audible.com app on it or load an audiobook file and play the audiobook right through its speakers.
