I have no idea, though he has apparently now shifted to an actual hosting service, which he alluded to doing at some point in an email exchange. But it was why the apparent DDOS attack put him down before: the server was up and running, but couldn't deal with 15 bogus queries per second and handle queries and serve ebooks.

Moving to an actual professional host should help. I was impressed when I heard about it too, as the site was generally quick and responsive. I credited efficient coding for at least part of it.

It's possible to get "symmetric" DSL (with the same speeds for upload and download) for a higher price, and that may have been what he used for teh connection.
