Good morning, everyone! Firecrackers have been going off since sunrise, chasing out the old bad spirits to make room for the good spirits of the Year of the Horse to settle in. There should be a hot time in the old town tonight! Northern Thailand has a huge population of Chinese-Thai, and many of the elders in some of the hilltribes can even read Chinese characters! Chiang Mai has a large Chinatown section, and there will be activities going on there all weekend. Think I'll get my camera out for this one!
To celebrate, I'll be drinking Keemun teas today. I prefer that to firecrackers, although the punch is about the same, just quieter... Oops! There goes another string! Sounds like a poorly timed machine gun!
