ARRGH!!!! I own the first book and I've tried to read it a couple of times. The writing is tremendous, but you get dumped into the middle of a story with the first book. *Everybody* says to start with the second book and yet I'd really like to start at the beginning. It's a lot to spend, but I'm really tempted..
