Thanks. I thought that was a possibility, but did not realize that microsoft had taken over from W3C.

I don't have or use micrsoft anything and IE has never even been available for any OS I have.

I do have linux versions of chromium (chrome before the closed source bits are added) and iceweasel (firefox without the trademarked bits). I right clicked a mobiread ebook in each as Harry suggested and the intended file name came up prefilled in in each, so I did not have to type or change the name. I then left clicked in each, and the book with intended file name was automatically saved in each.
