I often come across files mxplayer chokes on unless you switch it to software decoding and restart it several times (it doesn't take until you do), yet diceplayer and the default Samsung player handle the same files perfectly fine. I also see mxplayer occasionally mess up the audio sync, framedrop and other things that it doesn't even have the option to correct.
It's also coded to purposefully not work anytime Android updates for no real reason while all the other players keep working and sometimes takes days of it not working at all before an update to fix it is released.
To be honest I bought MxPlayer pro on the advice of everyone claiming how good it was and it's actually the worst one I've ever used on a mobile device, no audio correction, no pop up play, bad performance all round, I'd go as far to say that it's the worst app I've ever bought.
