Trade paperback is going to outlive the mass market paperback format because it is better suited for POD.
A lot of indies are expanding their reach by adding POD to their ebook releases, pricing their ebooks at US$5 and the tpb at $16 or so, list. Allowing for normal discounting, that gets their pbooks into bookstores at $10-12.
