That's precisely the issue. So from now on, before I buy a book at Kobobooks, I not only have to put a preview copy in my library first (so I that can see the format and make sure it is an epub, which I have to do ever since they "improved" the store), but I now also have to find, download and analyze a DRM-ed but free book to ensure that I will be able to disinfect it and use it on a device of my choice.
And I have to do this so that people who who don't buy books in the first place have a theoretically harder time to distribute the books that they never buy?
(As long as 2.x works, I don't care, but this is the kind of thing that I can see vendors enforce swiftly, since quite a few seem to believe that piracy does cost them a large amount of money. Hint: It doesn't. Pissing off your customers does.)
