jdpatto: Helen's method is the way to do it. But, as you have a Kobo Touch, it might not work. From what you say, I think you bought the book from Kobo and downloaded it directly to the Touch. In this case, the book can't be copied to calibre as purchased kepubs are blocked from doing this. Part of the reason is they can't be put back on the device properly.

There are two ways I can think to achieve this. It depends on the devices being used and the accounts.

If your son is using a Kobo device and the uses the same Kobo account on his ereader, then he should sync the device, find the book in the library and tap it to download it. The only problem with this is that any further syncs will sync the reading position and that can get confusing if you are both reading the same book.

If it is another type of device, or he has his own Kobo account, you can download the epub version from the shop. Go to the Kobo site and the "My Library" section and find the book. There should be a "ADOBE DRM EPUB" or "DOWNLOAD EPUB" button. Press that to download the book. The first will do the download via ADE. The latter will directly download the book. If the book has DRM, you will need to deal with that before putting it on his ereader.
