Unfortunately, they haven't made anything significantly better since. The Nook Tablet was at best an incremental update. What I really wanted was a 4:3 screen and the Google Play store, so I ended up getting a Vizio 8" tablet to replace it (which I was really happy with).
Now I'm looking to replace the Vizio tablet, which is starting to wear out after years of faithful service. B&N have finally added the Play store, but still don't have a 4:3 device, or Kit Kat. They're not even in the running any more.

To be fair, a lot of Android tablets don't have Kit Kat yet but I get your point. I think the Nook tablet is still on Ice Cream Sandwich and I don't think there are any plans to update.
