a regular disc will probably be slower than an SSD - folks buy SSD for more speed.

the truly speed obsessed would use a RAM disc for the temp file

I continue to fascinated by the OCD inspired nature of this thread , & the cost benefit :

man-hours ( expressed in seconds) of thoughts & postings to-date vs seconds of processing time saved so far,
