Yes I tried changing the gamma setting although I always make sure to set it to get the darkest font I can. It didn't make any noticeable difference. The difference in the darkness of the font is more noticeable on the Kobo Aura than the Aura HD but there is still a difference on the Aura HD. I have also noticed the same thing on my jb Paperwhite 1. The fonts are definitely not as dark.
