Thank you....I hadn't tried that. I will definitely remember that. I just tested it, and the screen again went black, but the left swipe up restored it. Thank you!

It could be a Nook HD issue. I am curious if anything like that happens on your Fire HD. Although I know you don't read on it, much. I'll have to test it on my 2012 Fire HD later.

ETA...tested my Fire and the screen did not get completely black! So it is a Nook issue for sure. Strange! Luckily I had Mantano on the Nook, since I was out of the house at the time!
