My secondary challenge list this year - 12 books that have been gathering dust on my shelf for at least a year - is all about those series. Setting my three alternates aside, all twelve are books 2-4 of a series...and three of those four series end with book four. (The fourth has a fifth book out now, but I don't own it.)

With the alternates, two of them are books 2 and 3 of a series that I've bought through #6, and the last three are ebooks that I got with Kobo discounts while Big Five books were still eligible. Not regretting that decision...

Oh, don't even get me started on those. I never did make it past the first couple of missions in No One Lives Forever, let alone Contract JACK, Blood, Beyond Castle Wolfenstein, or...well, you get the idea. I've pretty much given up buying consoles and PC games, but when I saw the BFG Edition of Doom 3 - which works on Win7 and comes with updated versions of the previous classic games - for $4.99 on DVD, I just couldn't resist.
