I think the B&N store is probably a big issue, at least in comparison to Amazon. It is okay if you know the book you want to buy, but IMHO, it is a pain if you want to browse. And the books are usually more expensive than Amazon or Kobo. I still mostly buy from B&N, but I might soon have to give up as it seems I am mostly throwing good money after bad in supporting them.
