Even though the OP made a choice, I voted for the Aura because of its great form factor, its weight and the ability to fine tune the light with two fingers.
If the question wasn't be have one and only one device, I would go with the Mini and the Aura HD (as I do, actually).

This is sad news indeed. However I believe that one has to actually use a Mini to realize how great an ereader it is. So it's really only after the purchase that the Mini shines
The 6" size being so mainstream, another size can be a put off to first time buyers.
