We've had a weather miracle! .... of sorts ....

When I went to bed, we were getting a steady rain/snow mix that was freezing onto surfaces. I dreaded thinking of having to chip my car out tomorrow morning from its icy cocoon. Temps were not plunging as predicted ....

When I got up, I cautiously peeked out, expecting to find a skating rink in my driveway. Instead ... it was dry! My car had no ice on the windshield! The roads were dry! But it WAS cold! 22 F with a wind chill of 5 F!

Apparently the cloud cover kept the temps above the teens, and the air mass was SO dry that the moisture was sucked back into the atmosphere and did not freeze on the ground! I safely drove to work, avoiding the stray frozen puddle.

Tonight, another arctic air mass arrives, dropping temps down into the teens! Yikes!
