In this case davfor was suggesting HOLDING the pinhole down WHILE turning the device on. Key to all these resets is to make sure you HOLD the power ON for 15-20 seconds BEFORE trying the reset to make sure the device is truly shut down.

... this would suggest this might be a hardware rather than a firmware problem.
