One of the more unusual of the paranormal/UFs I've read lately--
Darynda Jones' Charley Davidson series. (Fantastic Fiction link) This one has ghosts, angels, demons, & the Grim Reaper, but the love interest plays out over multiple books, so not true paranormal romance. And let's just say bad boys don't get any badder than Reyes...his story makes some of the Black Dagger Brotherhood look like Boy Scouts. 
It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea (dark with twisted humor; read reviews & check out samples), but it's definitely different from many I've read in the last few years. I'm on the fourth book, and I've enjoyed it so far. |
That was a DNF for me.
I wouldn't care if the series was Urban Fantasy or had any romance in it. I would love to find something like Haven to read.
the small town with big dark secrets and a woman with am mysterious past just catches my attention.
