Very hard to find indeed. Seems like most of the non-vamp/witch/were stuff tends to be more urban fantasy than strictly paranormal romance. I'll have to think about that; not sure if I've seen much of anything that excludes all three of those kind of "species".

One of the more unusual of the paranormal/UFs I've read lately--

Darynda Jones' Charley Davidson series. (Fantastic Fiction link) This one has ghosts, angels, demons, & the Grim Reaper, but the love interest plays out over multiple books, so not true paranormal romance. And let's just say bad boys don't get any badder than Reyes...his story makes some of the Black Dagger Brotherhood look like Boy Scouts.

It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea (dark with twisted humor; read reviews & check out samples), but it's definitely different from many I've read in the last few years. I'm on the fourth book, and I've enjoyed it so far.
