They will be the same. Kovid uses the "least comon denominator" for filename lengths possible and databases are SQLite databases. If there is case-sensitivity involved, they're already recorded in the database.

FYI, Mac's filesystem, HFS+, is usually configured to be case-insensitive but case-preserving.

I've shared a large calibre database among all of the OSes I've used (Win/Mac/Lin) without any issues. OP won't have any issues with Calibre as far as my experiences. As for plugins, it's always best to install those afresh with the new calibre install.
