Meanwhile, reading the third volume of the Tanyth Fairport trilogy - Hermit of Lammas Wood, by Nathan Lowell. This is an oddly satisfying series. The pace is slow, not much happens, and while there is conflict and danger, it never overshadows the underlying gentleness of the story. I come away from reading these books satisfied and relaxed, like a quiet natter with an old friend over a cup of afternoon tea. The series is five of five for me, and highly recommended if you enjoy quieter pleasures. |
I have felt the same about Janet Evanovich, but I think she's back on track with the new one, Takedown Twenty. Still I wish things would change in the series, like Stephanie should actually marry either Morelli or Ranger. That would make for some good comedy.
