Kobo help has now provided me with explicit instructions as to how to make sure I can download to and access on my device, book I borrow from a library. Seems I have been overlooking a step and I shall attempt to go through the procedure ASAP.
As I am tied up a the moment, that may be some time so I will close this post. Thank you all who took the time to assist me. If the Kobo instructions prove positive and I am successful please advise if you feel it would serve any useful purpose to post the instructions on the site for future reference by other beginners like me.
